  • Definition: visual acuity commonly refers to the clarity of vision, a measure of how well a person sees, visual acuity is dependent in optical and neural factors;
  • The sharpness of the retinal focus within the eye
  • The health and functioning of the retina 
  • The sensitivity of the interpretative faculty of the brain
  • Therefore an impairment on the optical and neural factors can lead to visual acuity.
  • Decrease visual acuity is the inability of an individual to see clearly.
